That's what plastic was made for.  :)

Which means that the 1st gen Colt I bought for $1200 twenty years ago actually cost a fair amount more since I didn't pay that card off until about ten years later.  ;D  But some things are worth it.

Must be nice Mr Rockefeller. ‘My name is Morgan but it ain’t J P.’

I had no clue I was going to walk out with the M57 from my friends LGS.
Simply asked to come in to look at and offer some insight on a cased Adams revolver and drop off some holsters I had made for him.

No money exchanged hands :)  Looks way cool in my WB holster, Serbian Cowboy

I saw a video, where the guy mentions he took his off, to mount some aftermarket grips.

Trigger is already pretty nice for a Milsurp, I might look into Walnut grips though  :-\

Added a couple to the herd today. A between the wars Walther PP in .380 with original holster and 2 magazines. Also, A Tisas 1911A1 that became the donor for a Colt slide that will be used in Wild Bunch. Plenty of 7 round mags already and an Officers Belt and holster set. Stuffed some Mexican Eagle grips on it too.

What's not to like? Nice find.  My first ever gun was a PP.  Except it was an FEG aluminum frame copy.  Feedramp was very lumpy, but it would feed ball and took my CCW class with it.  You'd think one might want to hold on to their first gun but it was pretty crappy and I got an awesome trade-in on a Diamondback with it.  :)  But if it had been a Walther I would still have it for sure.

Here's a couple of pics of the Mud Puppy.
Well, after soaking in Mineral Spirits, the action has cleaned up and smoothed up considerably. The pitting on the outside of the barrel is deep, only bobbing the barrel will get rid of that. However, the bore had looked really rough, so with nothing to lose I used a stainless Tornado brush on it and it cleaned up beautifully! So, once I get some boolits in, I will see how the wee little beastie actually shoots with BP. Also, found out it is probably 1880-85 built, so BP only.

Some years ago, a buddy of mine and I were at a then LGS hang out (since sold when the former owner retired)
We saw a Shotgun News Ad for Romanian surplus PP knockoffs @ $120 each, 3 for $105.
So, on a lark we, Dennis, I, and the former owner FFL decided to take them up on the three for deal.
What we got were rather rough as a cob finished, otherwise shootable mutts.
I figured I wasn't hurt @ the $105 expenditure...
In fact, as trading fodder I came out ahead, still while it was OK, had it been a Walther, I too would still have it.

The M57 is a fun little blaster, I been running my hand loaded 7.63 Mauser rounds through it.
It cycles fine, but the groups are somewhat open.
The Bullets are .310 @ 90 grainers for the C96 Mauser. The Mauser round is loaded at lesser pressure than the Tokarev as well.

The Tokarev round is .312 @ 85 grains, so I opted to order from Ammo Seek. The best deal was PPU Pavi $24.99 a box 50 @ Minwal so I ordered a couple of boxes...I'll see how these do.
The gun itself, was according to the serial number made in 1980 in the former Yugoslavia (now Serbia) by Zastava. It is an as new, un-issued military model, rather than the commercial Zastava-Serbia marked
model they still make today.
Sorta of a Cold War relic and will be my truck gun.

I don't know if PPU sells their bullets loose  :-\  maybe Sellier & Bellot does:  https://www.sellier-bellot.cz/en/products/components/bullets/
