No problem at all...

'Little things' like cap tins and accouterments add to the overall Impression and knowing what to look for makes it easier to do so.

Good posts - many thanks.

Neat cap tins!

I have a musket cap tin that I picked up recently.  Any help dating this piece would be greatly appreciated!

While I can't say for sure, perhaps I can narrow the field.  I think that UMC (Union Metallic Cartridges) was begun right after the (un)Civil War, around 1867 or so.  I seem to recall one of St. George's posts mentioned that timeframe.

I'm not sure how long the Military issued percussion guns, but it was probably well into the 1880s or perhaps 1890s, but I don't know fer sure.
