Texas Aggies Corp of Cadets
« on: September 06, 2010, 04:02:36 PM »
Howdy Compatriots,

We had our home opener this weekend against Stephen F. Austin State University.

I am a proud Alumni of the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets and marched in the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band from '85 - '89.

The TAMU Corps is the largest uniformed student body in the nation and commissions more officers second only to the service academies.

Here are some pics from the game.  Before every home game the Corps forms up and marches over to the stadium.  Then the pass in review in the stadium and are graded.  At the end of the school year the best military outfit receives a maroon and white cord to wear on their uniforms.  It is a very prestigious honor.

Also, before the game against Louisiana Tech on Sept. 11 we will be honoring a great Aggie, Texan and American Lt. Gen. James F. Hollingsworth ’40.

Gen Hollingsworth, the most decorated general officer in the history of Texas A&M, died on March 2 and was interred at Arlington National Cemetery on May 20.

No, I meant surplus Texas A&M Cadet uniforms. I have one of the "peaked" or "Wheel" hats from the cadet corps a buddy bought for me when passing through the area years ago, just like the "crusher" caps from WW2 except they fold as easily.

Reviewing Officer for the game:

MG David Rubenstein '77, Commander US Medical Department Center and School at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, TX. He is also Chief of the Army Medical Service Corps. He is a great Army officer and Aggie!
