Busy week,3 new guns
« on: June 15, 2019, 11:04:15 AM »
I had been looking for 2 specific guns for a while, an Old Vaquero, they had a larger frame and grip and I have big paws. Also, a Mauser HSc, which I think are some of the sleekest Art Deco guns ever made, aside from being great guns. I worked out a trade with a fellow in California so when he shipped to me, went into my LGS where it would come to and lo and behold, there was a nice, clean HSc in .380! Well, while we worked out the trade another got thrown in to even things out, an Iver Johnson in .32 that was looking at me with puppydog eyes. Range time next week.

The little IJ has been carried a LOT. The bluing shows quite a bit of wear but the chambers and bore are virtually pristine. Still tight as a bank vault.

Neato.  When those gunstore guys see you pull up out front they probably say "quick!  Get out the weird ones!"   :)

Once I was in there while the owner was trading for a serious little mud puppy. once done, he didn't even look straight at me, just grinned and handed it to me. I'm hopeless...

I too, know the ailment, I was effected yesterday
A as new in box Beretta 950BS vest pocket auto,  I know for a fact, they say "  "quick!  Get out the weird ones! "  as soon as I walked in they all chuckled  :D

This was a consigned piece ( two of the mags were still factory packaged ) and mag in the gun showed no real wear , hang tag still on the TG .
The consigned price was quite fair, but the haggled price even better.

Motivated seller, meets hopeless romantic with 10 crisp $ 20's  ;)

It is a little gem,  digests Hornady custom 25ACP XTP sweet as can be...
But does not like Remington FMJ Ball ammo.
I interject here neither does my Galesi which will also feed the Hornady's reliably .

I was given the box of Remington's so I'll probally plink with them or pay them forward  :-\

That's strange that it will feed the JHPs and not the FMJ stuff.

Even stranger , the Remington box reads for 25ACP for Pistols & revolvers ?  revolvers  ???
The 50 Grain FMJ Bullet is noticeably a rounder nose than the JHP's.
Neither gun will feed the FMJ satisfactorily

I stopped by Academy Sports and bought a box of 50g Fiocchi FMJ on sale, it has a somewhat less rounded nose...more like the 35 grain JHP's I'll run some and see if thats the ticket.

They were kind of an enigma.

Galesi Giuseppe Nicola founded the manufacture in 1914 . well-known for their small semi-automatics 22 - 32 Cal. ,  Made a few models for the Italian Military.

The Gun control act of 1968 stopped Armi Galesi from importation of assembled guns to the USA their largest market.
Just as Beretta was forced to send construction of their 950B ( 950BS) to the New Jersey corporate location.
Galesi had the micro guns assembled in Miami Fla. to about 1981...his son still runs RIGARMI

All steel construction and good quality, Inexpensive but not cheap quality.
I dressed mine in Black Walnut grips I hand made from the broken stock of 1859 Sharps ( heck ! old wood that had still a useful life and well seasoned too )

My dear Pitspitr, you have a valid argument, but I shall have to disagree. I think we are getting into Ginger vs, Mary Ann territory!  Or perhaps, for the era, Joan Blondell vs. Myrna Loy! Willow branches at 10 paces Sir!  ;D
BTW, have you tried the Triple K magazines for the Savage and if so, how did they work? I would like to have a second mag for mine.

I have a couple of Triple K mags for my 1917 Savage and they have been 100% so far.  The only thing I don't like about them is they made the follower taller and so they hold 2 rounds less than factory ones.

Tornado, that is a fine looking gun! And thanks especially for the input on the mags. Mine is in .32, so we will see [once they are back in stock] how they work!
