1911 & Wild Bunch Shooting / Re: Wild Bunch or More The Barracks

I have seen photos of several , most have

         PISTOL RACK
45 CAL. COLT AUTO PISTOL
      MODEL 1911-A1
    ORD. DR. NO. 42807
MFG. at NAVY YARD, PHILA. PA

Though I have seen one with cut figures (dated 7-1944) and one with no stamp ...

I don't know how many may have survived, but I saw one sold for $195 and two others listed @ $425 & $495 on eBay.
And still another with a Buy Now $875.00   :o
Very cool item and neat conversation piece wall hanger , but grasping at stratospheric pricing  ::) I imagine.

The Barracks / Re: Last issue of CW uniforms during the Indian wars?
« Last post by smoke on Today at 06:36:13 AM »
Thanks for replying guys.  I figured it was into the late 1870's.  Has anyone read a first hand account of troops being issued CW uniforms that late?  I have read accounts of how poor the uniforms were but don't recall any dates mentioned.

Frontier Iron / Shooting a .41 rimfire Remington double derringer
« Last post by ndnchf on Today at 05:53:15 AM »
I imagine very few, if any people today have seen an original Remington double derringer shooting original style black powder .41 rimfire shorts. Mine are original style copper rimfire cases that have been reprimed, then loaded with 12.0gr of 3F and an original style bullet. Contrary to what you may read on the internet, it is a formidable cartridge at card table range on a soft target. Check it out  ;D

I spent 20 years in the navy. Every ship had these. .45s were stored in them in the ships armory.
