New Cimarron 1878 Deluxe Coach Guns
« on: August 19, 2019, 09:54:49 PM »
This is an FYI.  As y'all know, the Cimarron / TTN '78 has been very popular in CAS.  They run out of them every so often and there is a bit of a dry spell until another shipment comes in from China.  I just noticed they are advertising an 1878 Deluxe Coach Gun, in stock with 20" and 26" barrels.  These have checkering.  But just so you know, it is not the same shotgun.  These are made by Daudson in Pakistan.  Cimarron has been selling Daudson hammerless shotguns for a few years now.  I only ever saw a single prototype of the '78, at my last Shotshow in 2017.  That gun was case colored, but I don't think this new one is.  The bluing was very nice, more polish than the Chinese guns and the wood looked nicer.  I don't think the hammers were as close together as the Chinese gun.  Anyway, I haven't seen this new first batch myself.  And nobody has used one in CAS, so at this time it is sort of an unknown as to its quality and usefulness.  Appears to be about $150 more than the Chinese gun which is model 1878CG.  The new Deluxe '78 model numbers start with "DA".  I will look forward to reports from users.  And BTW, Cimarron does still have Chinese '78's on order, so there may be a choice.

Seems like a lot of those shotguns are Chinese. Don't the Italians make them?

Pedersoli makes one sold by Taylors and Cimarron.  Nice and expensive.

Pedersoli M.707-012 S70712NS: 12GAuge - Side by side break action - 20 chrome-lined barrels - 2 rounds capacity - Engraved locks - Walnut stock with checkered pistol grip - Overall length 37.75 - Weight 7.05 - Blued

$1,446.74

There was a Gun made in Poland ...Pioneer ? I believe also in that price range, now no longer produced...

Turkey has produced several under various names or importers , Liberty 1 & 2 , ADCO, Charles Daly, and currently CZ,  Huglu and Kahn run near $1000.00

It is for this reason, the Polish & Turk guns are a gamble , as spare parts if needed are in someone else'  s gun or unobtainable

It makes the TTN a bargain Ive had mine for 16 years .... when Walt Johnson was TTN
when planets align...do the deal !

Hubba Hubba Ding Ding   ;D

Hey all .... Dat Cimarron is a really nice looking Hammer Double.  Checkering is a plus too.  Being as that I am a Hammer Double sort, I'd really like to fondle one.  A Lot   ::)

Also, perhaps of interest, those fine folks at EMF are also offering a rather nice looking Hammer Double these days.  Suppose to be from Pietta.  Not sure though, haven't seen one.  Looks alot like the new Cimarron offering.  Appears to have a Top Tang Sliding Safety tho, and also bears a string resemblance to a Pedersoli.  Slightly less money than a Pedersoli (not by much)   :o
