Just got off the phone with Jay...........
Here's the story:
The first couple of Remington Pocket Convertors that were sold all exhibited the same basic problem. They "skipped" past the locking notch upon firing. This happened more than just ocaisionally.
Jay tried boosting spring tension, mods to the bolt, and evrything else one could think of.
When he contacted me it was to "bang heads" and come up with a fix. Jay and I took the direction that a number of issues were contributing to the problem. The design by itself (of the 1863 Remington) is a big part of the issue, with the bolt being way off center and, I'm speculating, the weight of the cylinder as well as lack of mass in the small parts also contributing to the problem.
I have had quite a bit of experience and also figured that the undersized projectile and light load of the 32 S&W cartridge were contributing factors. This sets up issues in dwell time and I believe is allowing the primer to back out of the case for a micro second (then the case is picking it back up). I speculate that if we achieved obturation this might go away.
