38 Long Colt
« on: November 09, 2020, 02:41:38 PM »
I'm playing with some bullet comparisons in the 38 Long Colt and 38 S&W Special/38 Colt Special.

For the 38 Long Colt, I'm using trimmed 38 Special brass.  Has anyone worked up a 38 LC factory-duplication load with BP they can share?  Looks like the original load was 18 grains (FFFG?) for about 708 fps, but that was in balloon-head cases.

Thanks,
Jim

no clue but rule of thumb generally is fill case to where seating bullet compresses approx 1/8 inch.  May not be correct but is probably a good starting point
