Title: Impressions
Post by: Major 2 on November 21, 2020, 08:29:58 PM
I'm planning to base my persona after my Grandfather Luther Warren Rice Born Dec. 13, 1880
The photo below was taken in 1902 according to the wording on the back.
He would be 22...  his WW 1 Draft Registration 1918 (38 years)
He was a Butcher and Rancher by profession and served on the Highlands, NC town counsel for 34 years and as Mayor 6 terms.
He passed in 1968 at 88 years.

I plan the persona as a Contract Meat Provider, civilian commissariat department charged with the provision of supplies, both food and forage, for the troops.

Thank you, Sir

Here is more that was provided from Ancestry.com,  including an amusing anecdote , from Shaffer's "Heart of the Blue Ridge, Highlands ,North Carolina"
provided to the author by my cousin Barbara Rice.
I was fortunate to know my Granddad (Granddaddy Rice )  I remember him for the 50's & 60's we visited him almost every summer at his home in Highlands.

Very cool! You’re very lucky to have known the man behind the 1895. Sounds like a great idea for an impression. What was the dog’s name? If you don’t know, ‘Chester would be appropriate.

Mom used to talk about " Bill "   :)    ( My mother was born in 1910  (She was # 3 of 6 = 4 girls and 2 boys )   and she rememberd playing with the old dog..

Mike...I'll let you know  ;)  I'm making the belt right now, it has 45 sewn loops for Caliber 30 US Magizine Rifle..
