My doctor tells me to use lard in my bread, biscuits and pie crust, he says who knows better than you that it makes the best.  Also eat butter on it.  But then he grew up on a farm in south-central Nebraska.  Sides that he ain't just my Doctor, he's a friend. ;)

My wife says Lillian Vernon has them in her catalog, too.

BTW, get two...one will have butter in it, one will be either getting washed or being filled so you'll have a fresh one when the old one runs dry.  That happens about every other day at my house.  I LIKE butter.

I LIKE butter too.  If it didn't make so much of a derned mess, I'd keep a stick in mah back pocket (along with the bacon!) all tha time!

My butter keeper is the coolest ever!
Everyone should have one of these if they use real butter.
I buy it in  huge rolls fro the Amish.....so I just cut off pieces and cram them in the keeper.. and then add the cold wter in the bottom .. and taaadaaaa!!!
The butter is soft but not melty..and it tastes fresher than when I had it in a glass dish in the cubboard.

The Amish are a religious group who live in settlements in 22 states and Ontario, Canada.
The oldest group of Old Order Amish, about 16-18,000 people live in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
The Amish have their roots in the Mennonite community.

I have bought butter and other food supplies from their country stores in Branson Mo. and also from Yoder, Ks
and also in the Kansas City Area. The butter is the best I have ever found, short of making it yourself.
I buy it 10 rolls  at a time, vacume pack it and freeze it.. Keeps wonderfully, but around here, doesn't have to,
as we use it up in no time. ;)

I have been to a lot of draft horse sales and also had one gentleman do some saddle, bridle and harness work for a friend of mine. Their work is impeckable! Interesting culture and religion.
It is not personally for me, but interesting non the less.
If you are interested in learning more, I found these 2 sites...and there are lots more connected to these.

Hey Marshall'ette,
Thanks for the reply.  Have you had a chance to stop and shop Yoder Hardware.  They carry cast iron cookware and the store has that wood floor ambiance that we dont find in the big towns anymore.

I don't know if the Borntrager Dairy in Yoder carries the butter or not..

But I think that this store in Hutchinson does. You might call to see.
