Good luck guys, I will be praying for you.

He lives quite a ways south, a quick check says 644 miles or so.

Ahh....I could not remember where he lived.  It looks like he is pretty far away.  I know we have a few other Canadian folks.  Do you know where they live?

I'm just south of Red Deer in Central Alberta.  About 500 miles south of Ft Mac.  Nearest forest is about 60 miles west.

Thanks for the expressions of concern! (Have been very busy with a building project with one of my sons-in-law, so not checking in often) However, we're very safe from the Fort McMurray fires ... or any other forest fires for that matter!

Mostly when I see RSJ on FB he is surrounded by acres of Grandchildren. I figure that he is really enjoying retirement.

Smoke; Most of us Canucks on cascity are pretty scattered. I live in Victoria, which is quite civilized but subject to long droughts in summer and long rains in winter. PJ lives in Northern BC, way out West of Quesnel, and vulnerable to forest fires, but with great neighbours and decent road access. I am not familiar with the location of others others.

Yep ... though nothing to be sneered at, prairie fires are not as hard to control and extinguish as big forest fires ...
