APP loads for 32 & 38 S&Ws
« on: June 17, 2022, 10:24:18 PM »
Okay, picked up some 3F APP for loading for some pre 1900 revolvers. Cannot find any info except to fill the case until just slightly compressing the powder. Does anyone have any other info or actual load data? Thanks

That's all there is!  Bullets can be lubed, but don't need to be.  Get the brass into water or something pretty quickly.  And brass parts of guns can get stained, so wipe them down.

 :)  Hey There Deacon  ;)

SURPRISE!!!

PLUS ONE for Abilene (mostly)

Load data for APP is just what you may have read.  Except, you want the propellant to just touch the base of the bullet.  No air space.  At most just feeble compression.  Any cartridge, any size, any bullet, same load instruction.  Simple!!  If you find you wish to reduce the load, simply top off the load with Cream-0-Wheat to the base of the bullet.  Easy Peasy.

I don't necessarily subscribe to the "get fired cases in water quick" theorem.  Some times I don't get em in water for days.  They look crummy by then, but I just soak 'em in warm water 50/50 with white Vinegar.  No Problem.

I can provide you with "weight" charges I shoot.  I run 14 - 15Gr 3f in C45S.  Something similar in 44 Russian.  14 - 15Gr in 45 Schofield topped with C-0-W and 11Gr in 38 (any bullet).

Thankee Gents!
Most appreciated. Any problem with running the brass through my regular wet tumble cleaning process?

 :)  Deacon   ;)

None that I can think of.  Wet Tumble would be just as good as a Vinegar soak as long as it is done within a couple of days  (I think).  I don't personally "Wet Tumble."
