Putting barrel latch on a Schofield.
« on: September 10, 2021, 10:06:26 AM »
I got a 1/16” brass rod and bent a short L shaped leg on it a little longer than the thickness of the latch spring about 1/8”.  Before I put the side plate back on I put the hammer on full cock. Then I push the spring down so I can put the rod between the top of the spring and the frame. Put the side plate and the latch on and remove the rod.
Makes things easier and saves on bad language at least for me.
