Deacon,
Excellent Personal overview of 1911s for WB. When I shot Wild Bunch matches back in Wisconsin, I used a Rock Island Armory 1911. Paid $450.00 for it. All I ever did to it was polish the feed ramp. It was very reliable and I was able to shoot a few clean matches with it in the Traditional category. That said, I need to mention that some of my fellow shooters would shoot some of the stages twice as fast as myself.
I made the Holster from a pattern my good friend Ten Wolves Five Shooter sent to me. I installed the checkered grips when I shot WB matches. I gave this 1911 to my grandson who is a career officer in the USMC.

Had an idea last night when I was up on the hill a mile north.  Will do a better one likely next week, should have rolled the window down.

That is what dropped the heavy rain in Omaha and is over in Ioway.  Some mild tornadic activity.  Those tops are about 70 miles away.

He don't know what he's looking for, but he is.

Morning all.

Major, that sounds like you're having too much fun.

Not much excitement around here. Yesterday we had a broadcast prescribed fire, burned 51 acres of pine needles and fallen branches. Good time was had by all.

Wednesday I completed my 27th lap around the sun. Celebrated by spending all day at work cutting fallen trees out of a road so the biologists can count owls ::) At one point I was down the hill off the road answering nature's call, and one of the guys threw a down fir tree over the edge (little bigger than a Christmas tree), which naturally smacked me right in the face as it passed. Good times.

That's very striking. That was a good use of the dyes to get that effect. Congrats.

Glad to hear you were able to get that finger tip attached. It'll be a while before it's fully usable but that will just take time. Congrats on that procedure, too.

My understanding of the term "Cuban heels" is that they form a "shelf" at the upper, rear end of the heel for the spurs to rest on.

I would contact the Civil War Sutlery "James Country Mercantile" of Liberty, MO.
They sell period boots and steel heel-plates, and if they don't do refurbishing of such boots inhouse I'm pretty sure they know who does...

I've done business with them back when I was active in the WBTS-reenacting hobby, and they were always friendly and helpful.

The boots actually have a high, underslung heel and I like the looks of the Cuban better . Neither are very comfortable . I hope somebody can recommend somebody lol
