Here's a picture I took yesterday.  This is a combined cloud of t-storms and smoke from a large fire.

Roo, this fire is about 375 miles north of Sac.

Hey y'all.

Well, that truck sold right out from under my feet.  I was planning on calling when we got to Redding.  Made one last check before we left Weaverville.  It was sold... >:(

Better luck next time, TK. I paid $350., for my first car, A 56 Chevy Bel-air 2door Ht. I wish that I still had it. It would be worth a lot more than $350.

Tri-5's bring serious $$$ & a 56 2 door Bel-air may be the most desirable along with the Nomad.
My Dad had the 55 Olds version he bought it new , white on blue w/ the rocket V8.

Last minute, rush project of an Atlanta based client, it's a permanent showroom overhaul.... Mostly scenic with some stage lighting
I have to complete it and have it trucked to Hot-Lanta  by next Thursday...
That spells Ching ching to the Client, and OT for my crew, so I'm headed to salt factory this morning, had planned to ding steel some.

Catfish din-din was superb , glad I inspired  :) ... and I did buffalo shrimp salad last night.
No clue for today , but prolly buy lunch for the crew.

Hotter than HE double toothpicks, with standard thunder-boomers by prevening SOP ....that's about it from Liberal H'orlando.

A good Saturday morning to you all, thanks for the cuppajoe; I always need one when I get up really early like this, only got about three hours on the pillow during the night.  Something in my clockworks is jinked up.

It's been summer as usual, here, but this past week has been milder than some, with highs right around 100 +/- a few.  The humidity is running up and down like a yoyo, with a bit of occasional rain and some rather severe flash flooding here and there.

You mentioned that '56 Chevy hardtop, TLD; today's prices on them run from about one to two thousand for a rusted out hulk, to as high as six figures for a numbers correct, "as it came from the factory" restoration; on average, though, a nicely restored/mildly upgraded car will fetch from around $20K to as high as maybe $60k, depending on the level and style of work done to it.  The '56 is arguably the most sought after, and my favorite, but I sure don't have the sort of disposable income that having one requires.

Our oldest and his family are flying in from Puerto Rico this evening, and heading back home to SoCal in the morning, so our mundane existence will go back to a mild roar; we have had their three mini Schnauzer type critters for the past eight days, and with them added to our one, and the cat and Bella, it's been sort'a "manic" around here.  And when Bella goes back to school in a few weeks, things should resume their relatively humdrum day-to-day routine.

Well, I think I am going to try to get a head start on stuff today.

Later.

Kid, might be a good thing, get a gas burner, oil burners are great for heavy work, but in a Mazda that's an oxy-moron.  What you save in mileage will kill you in fuel costs, plus starters, alternators, oil changes plus having to replace two batteries when needed.

a wise fellow speakith the truth here !

a 25 year old NIP  Oil burner will need injectors and perhaps a fuel pump more than likely , and for you pay for those... :o

you could buy a way newer vehicle..cash !

Okay, I'm funeraled out today. :-\

But, the big news is...

I actually got a truck! ;D  My aunt is giving me her '98 Ford Ranger.   That means I can put a few bucks into a new rifle.  I'm gonna try a H&R Pardner .308, or something of that nature.  The truck arrives on Monday.

Them H&R's are good rifles, caliber choice is as good as any.  Have had 2 of them myself, 22 Hornet and 45-70.   wouldn't mind having one in that 300 Blackout aka 300 Wh
isper, think it would be a fun cast bullet plinker.

Get the horse to tell you where he is getting out and it will save you a lot of work Slim.

Working with the horses today and went to check out a barn my daughter wants to move her Mare to since it is about $100 a month cheaper than the one she is at. It is a bit rustic but all the horses are well kept so it looks like a good deal.

As well as 30-06, 280, 7X57, 7-08,  270, 6.5X55 and even 30-30.   Any will do for anything that walks in the US although the 20-30 may be a bit light for big Gristle bears although a Trans Am would be cheaper that a hunt for one of those.

Well, the reason I chose .308 is that I need a rifle that has "cheap" lead free ammo, for the California lead ban taking effect January 1, 2015.  I already have a 30-30.  I love my ole' 94, but lead-free ammo is about $50 per 20...  308 is cheaper.  That, and after I leave the house I intend to go to Montana or Texas.  Longer shots than I can comfortably make with a 30WCF.  7-08 wouldn't be bad, either.

Y'all keep cool and un-lightninged.   ;)
