Uberti Lightning

Howdy
Is the Uberti lightning the same size as an original colt?  For reference the Dia. of an original Colt lightning cylinder is 1.375 in.

No.  The Uberti Lightening bears only a passing resemblance.  The Uberti lightening is simply a reduced size SA, with a Thundereresque Grip and Backstrap.

I knew a gunsmith who claimed he could repair, build, or modify anything...if you had enough money. Turning a Uberti Lightning into a DA, even with a guy as talented as the one I knew, sounds like a very, very expensive project. No offense intended.

It would probably need the trigger guard enlarged as well as the internal mods.
