Is it the large acorn-head style?

No the first model 32 had the acorn head, but the larger frame had one that is similar to the modern M10

Here's one of mine showing the ejector rod end. This one is one of the 2000 the Army purchased. Unfortunately it didn't come with the original grips and I haven't been able to find any that are 100% correct though the ones it is currently wear are closer than these.

I don't know that much about the S&W revolvers but have you looked at Vintage Gun Grips? They have a large assortment of reproductions and may have something for you. https://www.vintagegungrips.com/product-category/categories-prod/vintage-gun-grips/?ap=s I don't think this hot linked but you can copy and paste.

Perhaps you should open a thread in the frontier iron board to a more general audience

Sorry to tag on so late in the thread... the holsters here are obviously older, but finding a newer version has been a challenge!  Older ones cost more than the guns themselves!  I am not a leather worker yet, this hobby has too many rabbit holes and I just haven't gone down that one, yet...

Does anyone have a line on a good holster?  I am looking hard at ebay... may have to darken a light one...

Thank you... I have
Found his ebay store... I may need a large purchase to get everything I need....

On a more 1899 note... I have an 1899 that has two serial numbers on it... I presume the one on the the butt, or below the grips is the original number of the gun, but what about the cylinder and inside of the frame... they are after all connected to the grip which has different numbers?

If it was military issue, it will have the S&W SN the frame and crane and an Army or Navy applied SN usually on the butt.  Most of the Military models are 38 Long Colt instead of .38 Spl.

The number on the butt is the Serial Number. The other numbers are assembly numbers the factory used to keep parts together, once the gun was done, they mean nothing.

I have 4x 1899s, (cool guns), rarest 1899 Target, next US Army, 3rd 32/20, 4th nickeled 38 special short bbl, am willing to sell short bbl nickeled. Will bring to 2021 convention if it happens.
Not looking to sell online or by email, not entertaining offers. Will sell where I purchased it, at NCOWS convention. If that gets canceled, McGregor's Landing.

The military S&W 1899s should have 3 serial numbers and they should match. They are located on the butt, on the bottom side of the barrel and on the cylinder. The ones on the barrel and on the cylinder are really small and would be easy to over look. As said earlier the numbers on the crane, ect are production numbers.

Serial number range US Navy, 5001-6000. US Army, 13001-14000.
