WTB Leather Bandoleer
« on: July 19, 2020, 10:45:16 AM »
What I am looking for is one that will hold stripper clips for my M1903.

See lots on line but very leery of their quality.

Can't remember who he said had it but Blue Eyed Cabellero told me that someone at the Grand Muster had one for sale that might work for my needs.

Thanks

The one at the Muster sold.
http://onlinemilitaria.net/products/4281-UK-1903-Pattern-Leather-Cavalry-9-Pocket-Bandolier/

It came from WPG, and quality was superb. It did need to be softened with Lexol and pouches stretched to accommodate paired 5-round clips in each pouch, though. It was used for 5-round clips of Swedish Mauser 6.5. Meant for .303, it wouldn't have fit that caliber without major stretching. Originals were of slightly thinner weight, I'm guessing. The original ordnance patterns were developed in 1897, or so, and would be appropriate for Boer War, although named as 1903 Pattern.

I will offer that the 5-pouch Infantry bandolier that WPG also sells would've been more practicable in retrospect. Hard to bring those four pouches on the back of the cavalry bandolier into play when in use during a stage.

Ha !  I was tickled to see this quote in the descriptions' ..."   It is made larger than originals to fit modern people."

I resemble that !    I'm not xx-large ,  I'm a  modern people.  ;D  that's my story and I'm sticking to it .

I'm not sure that pouches for .303 would fit 30-06, since it's somewhat longer.

Does it have to be leather?  WPG has the 1910 and 1912 Mills web bandoliers, and those are designed for .30-06.
Civilize them with a Krag . . .
