Pros:
FAST, inexpensive, reliable
Cons:
not available in .44-40 or .38-40!
I got a 45 Thunderbolt from EMF to do a CC article on. Sub-one inch groups at 25 yards, bump fire as fast as a semi auto, fed over 200 rounds w/o cleaning with no problems. AWESOME! I don't think General Grant and Pike will be getting this demo gun back!

Pros:
fast, inexpensive, accurate
Cons:
No proper owners manual
I ran it pretty hard, 2 hiccups, once a loaded shell flipped backward (think I racked it too lightly), second, shell split when fired, had to use a very firm pull to get it to function. Sights are a little different, but I did some long range shooting with it, and they worked fine.

Pros:
Beautiful wood, nice deep bluing, good fit and finish.
Cons:
NONE
This is one of the nicest rifles I have had my hands on. This one is in 45LC. The action is smooth and positive. I had no problems with it at all. It will be my match rifle for sure. I will probably put a tang sight on it later. I have an order in for one in 357/38spc.

Pros:
Fast action, great balance
Cons:
powder Blow back into the face. Wrap around glasses are needed
For the price this looks like it will be a great gun. First session and 50 rounds with no misfires and no feed problems.
New to SASS and on all 50 I had hits while building speed.
Mine is a blue model 45 Colt serial ZF63XX.
Store bought Cowboy reloads were 1.580-1.590 in lenght...not very consistant and a LOT of blowback into my face. I think with my reloads I will maintain lenght at the 1.580 recommended and try different powders to reduce the blow back.
This is my first CAS rifle and I will update this after a couple of matches.

Pros:
Beautiful gun, very well built. Shoots like a dream
Cons:
Sights couldhave been thought out a little better
I must have had one of the first off the line, because my serial number is in the YE range. First firing session yielded positive results, with no misfeeds or functioning problems. As I got used to the gun, I managed to go faster and faster. Pards who have experienced problems may be just not used to what the gun wants to do. Take your time and she will sing.

Pros:
FOR THE MONEY, IT'S THE BEST. SMOOTH ACTION, NO LOADING PRIBLEMS.
Cons:
BEWARE OF BLOW BACK. NEED TO CHECK THE CHAMBER DIMENSIONS. LOW POWER COWBOY LOADS DO NOT GIVE GOOD CASE EXPANSION. HOTTER LOADS HAVE BETTER EXPANSION. I HAVE BEEN USING TRAIL BOSS POWER AND IT BURNS DIRTIER THAN OTHER POWDERS THAT I HAVE USED. WEAR SAFETY
NEW AND OUT OF THE BOX, CLEAN AND WIPE THE BORE OUT.I DO-NOT RECOMMED "SLAM FIRING" OF THIS RIFLE.IT IS WELL BALANCED IN MY HANDS WITH FAST TARGET ACQUISITION.REAR SIGHT IS COLD STAMPED AND ROUGH ON THE EDGES.MINE IS THE STAINLESS STEEL MODEL SEMI-POLISHED FINISH IN .45 LONG COLT. STOCK AND FOREARM ARE NOT THE BEST FINNISH BUT I CAN FIX THAT AT A LATER TIME. THE DE-COCKER ON THE TOP OF THE HAMMER TAKES SOME GETTING USED TO. I CALLED THE COMPANY AND THEY SAID THAT THE 38sp-357mag IS NOT AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME. OVERALL I LIKE IT AND WILL RECOMMEND IT TO MY SHOOTING BUDDIES.

Pros:
still the best for the price
Cons:
burnt powder fouling is a problem
this is an update on my taurus thunderbolt. took it to the shooting club on feb 10-07. shot two full rounds of silhouette. towards the end there was a build up of burnt powder residue in the chamber and on the bolt and slides making it progressively harder to operate the action. i was shooting low power cowboy loads. the problem is no case expansion to seal the chamber. i washed the action out with a good solvent and switched to med-high power loads and this reduced the fouling and the rifle was easier to operate. i slugged the barrel and it is .451 dia. case expansion is required when using straight sided cases like the 45 colt to seal the chamber and stop blow-back. back at the house i used some high power hunting loads j h p with next to no powder residue in the action. called taurus office in florida to obtain a tang peep sight, i was informed that a tang sight was not available at this time, found out that the sight that they sell for the model 62/72/172 will work on the thunderbolt but no mounting screws are available at this time. so i ordered one and was informed that they are on back order. the rear mounting screw on the rifle will work with a tang sight, just a little bit short but it works, the problem is the frount mounting screw, the hammer spring is directly under the screw hole and the length of the mounting screw is critical, also the fine thread on this front screw is hard to find at the hardware store. i am going to drill out the old thread and drill and tap with standard u. s. thread size. napa stores have s/s screws. i will remove the rear sight from the barrel and use a marble's 3/8" sight slot blank in it's place. just receved an e-mail that said, the thunderbolt will not be made in 38/357 cal, my be it's just a rumor i hope this info helps.

Pros:
Cons:
if you are looking for an in-depth review of the taurus thunderbolt pick up a copy of "guns of the old west" #53 spring 2007 by MIKE BELIVEAU PAGE # 66. it"s all decked out for cowboy action shooting. please take note...the thunderbolt in this review is not the same thunderbolt that you will find at your gun store.the rifles at the store have a matte black finish and dark almost black butt stock made of some sort of brazilian mystery wood with next to no figure to it and black stain and the round taurus logo ( pictured in the article ) is not on the left side of the frame. the barrel is marked, made in brazil taurus model c 45 .45colt on the left side of the barrel. it is interesting to note that most all of the firearms that are sent to gun publications for review are pre-tested and finished with good quality wood and above run-of-the-mill finish. the stainless steel model is easy to polish and remove small scratches from a hard days shooting. i am looking for an after-market stock to replace do-do stock on mine. if you come across one drop me an e-mail thanks, dixie.

Pros:
Nice and accurate.Great finish on the wood and metal to wood fit excellent.
Cons:
Sights don't suit me at all.Had to place front sight level with top of super wide rear sight.
I found my rifle to be quite accurate with almost any load I tried.HSM cowboy loads blackened the cases and I even felt gas blow back with them.I load a faster powder and 250gr bullets and have good sealing of the case.I have had 2 or 3 times when a cartridge has slipped under the carrier.I think this was mostly due to a dirty action. These rifles like to be clean. My rifle does not seem to be too cartridge length sensitive handling 1.45"to 1.6" okay.Overall a nice gun.
