Description: More popular than the Springfield trapdoor or the Remington rolling block. An eastern writer sends a dispatch, "Most of the frontiersmen I have met use the Sharp's rifle. In fact, nearly all. I have seen more than 100 Sharp's rifles and only three or four of any other. The men who use them all proclaim the Sharp's the best arm in use for the purpose with the model 1874 being the real work horse on the frontier."

The Sharp's sporting rifle was one of the strongest actions made at that time but it was the wide selection of available cartridge chamberings that endeared it to the Buffalo hunter.

Pros: Mine was a Pedersoli and a work of art
Cons: almost to nice to shoot

Now I must confess, I ordered the Military Carbine in 45/70.
I was shocked at how nice it was turned out, I mean it was a work of art literally.
I serious if it had been a premium gun I'd understand, but it wasn't.
I've owned two originals (both carbines) two Shiloh's (one carbine & one Military rifle ) and a Garrett Sharps.
The Originals were well ORIGINAL...
The Garrett was nice and sadly I sold it (but did get a nice profit)

The Shiloh's were OK , the Robinson Carbine was pricey and fit and finish was only good. The rifle had issues stock was a bad choice of wood weak to begin with at the inletted wrist and broke/cracked the action was rough .
Way over priced.
For the money go the Pedersoli. Unless the name means the $$$ difference

Pros: The fit and finish are the best I've seen, on any brand
Cons: All pricing aspects

I have the Hartford model in 45-70. I have had it for two years, and it has been an excellent rifle for hunting or any of the shooting discipolines it fits into.

Other than the pricing of the rifle, the other products and services, this is the best Sharps reproduction rifle extant.
