| My Chosen Alias
(The story behind and how I picked it): |
(The NAME Will Dearborn is the name a literary gunslinger travels under at the start of his career. The character's name was already registered with SASS... so I went with the name he travels under. MY Will Dearborn is a more historical guy than the fictitious one was. Here's his story:)
Will Dearborn left the troubles in Ireland and came to America around 1862, just in time for the troubles there. He fought with the Irish Brigade under several different commanders through some of the bloodiest times of the war. He was never promoted beyond Sergeant, mostly due to a grizzled old soldier who pointed out that, in the Irish Brigades, officers died quicker than other men and who also pointed out that non-commisioned officer (read Sergeant) really ran the Army... the officers just THOUGHT they did.
After the war, he travelled to a small river town near Central Missouri that he'd often heard spoken of by some ofthe men he fought with... and against. After the horror of war and the mighty roar of cannons (he would always think of the phrase "the Voice of God" when he thought of Artillery) Our WIll only wanted peace and quiet.
Unfortunately, in this post-war rivertown of Waverly, Missouri lurked the heart of the Confederate Iron Brigade and many others intent on making a fortune out of another man's pain. Dearborn rose reluctantly to the challenge and soon found a star pinned on his vest. He often growls "This is a lot like bein' an Officer, cept ye never ken who's on the other side till the shooting starts. boyo."

| My current guns
& gear: |
Although I'm not new to shooting, I AM new to CAS. I shoot a Ruger New Vaquero chambered in .357/.38 and a 58 Remington that I shortened from 12". I just bought a Stoeger coach gun. Another Vaquero is soon to follow and then come a rifle TBD.
