(The story behind and how I picked it): |
Patience Annabelle "Patches" McDuff --
Born in Blossom Creek Ga in February 1849. Raised by father Alpo and three brothers--Johnny, Buck and Ray. The only girl in the family. Mother died of pneumonia in 1852. Disguised herself as a boy in 1862 and joined with General Joseph "Ol' Joe" Johnston as a currior. Spent three years after the war with Little Skunk -- AKA Sgt. Smokepole -- as a member of the Cherokee and daughter to Little Skunk. Went west in 1869, again disguised as a man. Drove cattle until 1873. Currently working as a US Deputy Marshal for Marshal Tensleep Ross, El Paso, TX. |
