| My Chosen Alias
(The story behind and how I picked it): |
| Lt Henry C. Nave is my 5th cousin. Prior to the WBS he was a magistrate, farmer and with his brother Isaac owned the largest iron forge in NE Tennessee. When the WBS started they both joined and served with the 61st TN Mounted Infantry which was assigned to Col John Hunt Morgan's command.Isaac was a vetern of the Indian removal wars and family history revealed he saw much violence. After serving with the 61st Mounted Infantry they returned home due to their age both being in their mid fifties and were commisioned as Lts in the Home Guard. They were ambushed by a childhood friend Capt Daniel Ellis as they were coming out of a house after eating supper near Bluff City,Tn. Henry died immediately but Isaac took 2 days to die. Loyal Southron citizens carried their bodies to Crumley Cemetary . Their gravestone still stands marked "Murdered by SoCalled Union Soldiers." |
