Recent News About Me:
Back to being a citizen shooter..Nice!

Pleased to announce that I have hired on at the new Cabela's opening in June 2005 in Buda, Texas. Even more pleased to have been placed in the Gun Library with the fine and old guns. Should be a hoot and a half! Come see me if you are in the neighborhood.

My Chosen Alias (The story behind and how I picked it):
Hext Finnigan is a fictional composite of my ancestors, who lived in Texas when it was wild. He is a man who knows horses and will work cows. He is good enough with a gun to have a reputation and good enough in his heart to not want one.

Born in the deep South as the War was ending, his family was stripped of their land and sent on their way, on foot. Like many, they went to Texas.
The Confederates crowd the rich farm land in East Texas and the family finds themselves pushed West, by the Irish prejudice and the need for space.

They settle just west of Austin for a brief time. They gathered cattle and men before forging their way into the Concho Valley where they began the headquarters of the homestead.

Hext was a boy during this trek and he watched the hard work, the hard men and the hard ways. As he grew in strength and size, Hext worked and fought alongside the men. The Indians did not like these invaders, taking their watering holes. There was constant fighting and wariness was required to make it through each day.

Hext became hard with work and quick with weapons. His stock with the hands, hard-bitten veterans of the vicious war, rose with each round-up, with each Injun skirmish.

My current guns & gear:
My guns of choice for CAS depends on the persona that I portray at the event.
I shoot mainly Cimarron guns. I have Opentops in 45 Schofield, Model Ps in 45LC and Thunderers in 357. Also, a pair of Remingtons in 357.
For long guns, I shoot 66s and Marlins, might look at a 73 carbine soon. My scatterguns are both SxS and 97s.

My leather is almost all San Pedro Saddlery. Good solid work by Big Ed and company, mostly the Wild West double loop, in both black and brown. I have one set of slim jims and am looking at another set. My son's rig is from Vaquero Leather and is a fine setup as well.

I like hats, which anyone who knows me will confirm. I have several, but my favorite is an American Bison model from Beaver. It's real Buffalo fun and is just pretty nifty!. Dressing up is a big fun part and I like the different looks, so my closet is pretty full.
Other information I would like to share:
The top picture is my son, Alley Cat Finnigan and me, when we first started CAS, circa 2001.

These are my Cimarron Opentops in 45 Schofield.

The last picture is my lady, Black Widow Winnie with our son, Alley Cat and me, circa 2003.
