Music is an important part of a relaxing massage. Before you start reading, click the play button and listen to a sample of the music that is playing in my massage room.

Therapeutic massage is the oldest form of healing known to man. Chinese records date back as far as 7000 B.C. By integrating this ancient art of healing, we honor ourselves by allowing time to relax, release and renew. Tiny babies to the elderly, and all ages in between, will benefit from this healing procedure.

The ancient Hindus, Persians and Egyptians applied forms of massage for many ailments; and Hippocrates wrote papers recommending the use of rubbing and friction for joint and circulatory problems.

When muscles are tired, stressed and overworked, waste products such as lactic acid can accumulate in the muscle, causing soreness, stiffness, and even muscle spasm. Massage therapy manipulates the soft tissues, normalizing them, reducing stress and fatigue while improving circulation.
Touch is the main ingredient of massage therapy. I use certain techniques for massage and use my sense of touch to determine the right amount of pressure to apply to each person and locate areas of tension and other soft-tissue problems. Touch also conveys a sense of caring, which is an important part in healing .

Anyone that has rubbed a stiff, sore neck knows intuitively that massage relieves pain and muscle tension. But the benefits don't just stop there.

Regular massage will relieve physical and mental fatigue, reducing high blood pressure, boosting the immune system, helps fight depression and increases blood circulation, bringing fresh oxygen to body tissues.This can speed healing after injury, and enhance recovery from disease. It has been a proven factor in helping with many chronic conditions, including low back pain, arthritis, bursitis, fatigue,diabetes, infertility, muscle tone, digestion, skin tone and more. And, as many millions will attest, massage also helps relieve the stress and tension of everyday living that can lead to disease and illness.

In fact, the medical profession is recognizing that a one hour massage has many of the benefits of a one hour workout without the fatigue. Muscle manipulation stretches and works the muscles to improve the tone... This increases the blood flow to the heart. The basic goal of massage therapy is to help the body heal itself, to enhance self-esteem, and to increase health and well-being.
