Retiring after 47 years of service

     There will be a party honoring James Eddie "Ed" Cornett on Sunday afternoon, Feb. 7, 2010 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. at the Severy Community Center.  He will be retiring after 47 years of service at the Severy Co-op Association.  Ed began working part-time for the Co-op during his junior and senior years of high school.  He went to work full time at the elevator for $1.00 an hour upon his graduation from Severy High School in 1961, staying until 1971.  He then left to work in Emporia for three years.  In 1974 he went back to work at the Co-op again, staying until his retirement.

Wow! 47 years is pretty awesome!  I retired from the Federal Government after 30--if I had worked any more than that, I would have lost my mind!!  I admire anyone that has that much stick-to-it-iveness to go for the touchdown!!
