Just in time for the holidays, the Howard Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a fundraiser for Chamber activities. Jill Ball, an artist and Howard resident, has generously donated a sculpture titled “Walk on the Wild Side” and valued at $1,200, to help the Chamber with its fund-raising efforts.

The soft-body Santa and his animal friends are painstakingly sculpted and finished with hand-sewn clothing and hand-painted details. This original one-of-a-kind sculpture is currently on display at First National Bank of Howard, and also will be displayed at Howard State Bank. It will be awarded to the winning name drawn at 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, during the Chamber’s Christmas open house. The winner need not be present.

Tickets can be purchased for a donation of $5 each (or five for $20) at various Howard businesses, or by email at howardchamber@gmail.com For more information, call 620-374-2321 or 620-374-2172.

Can I ask, who is Jill Ball?  I guess I don't know who she is.

She and her husband bought Gladys Denton's house.  They also bought Pat Beck's house, but I don't know if they still own it.  He drives a bluish colored pickup.  I only met her at a garage sale about 2 years ago and I bought a $400.00 chair for $40.00.  She showed Cathy Johnson and I the art work that she does.  She is really good.
