Oh my, I'd better not tell Al that dental implants can reject or he will be as nervous as can be. He's in the bone healing stage right now, but feels much better over all. We had to go to big metal trash cans years ago and then put steel airline cable on halter lead snaps across the lids from handle to handle because of all the racoons. I love to watch them but I hate them at the same time. We have some goldfinches that stay here all year long, so we get to watch them change colors from season to season. We don't have scissor tails here so I enjoy seeing them when we visit.
Wilma that rose is really beautiful. I may have to see if I can find one here.

As an aside Wilma, I bought a couple of knockout roses from Walmart a few years back. They were marked down to two dollars at the end of the summer. I planted them and they haven't looked back, they don't take much water and bloom nearly all the time. A good rose for our mean summers, but not nearly as beautiful as your pretty tea rose. I love tea roses but don't have the patience to administer the pampering that they really require. I want to play outside today, but it's just too cold. I do hope that I can get the grass in my flower beds sprayed today.

Going to a couple of concerts this weekend, making up for my lost youth. Look out David Allen Coe, I'm looking forward to the ultimate c&w song come saturday night. You just cannot beat the price; a bus trip to the casino, $40.00 worth of free play, free buffet, and a concert all for $47.00. Quite a bargain for a full days' entertainment. They will be picking us up at 2:00 Pm and we won't get back until the wee hours. Hope I survive!

We plan to attend the rattlesnake hunt in Okeene the first part of May. I won't be huntin' or handlin', but I will probably have to try eating some. We also plan to attend the big hamburger fry in Okarchee that weekend. That sounds like fun; they fry a humungous hamburger and everybody gets a piece of it. They also have a real electric trolley line that will be operating that day. And I plan to watch the wind playing in the wheat. That is something that I do miss around here; the pasture land here is absolutely beautiful this time of year, but the wind playing in a wheat field just gives me such peace.

Edie, you are a teenager again! I'm so happy for yo.Those trips sound wonderful! I'm jealous. Down state here has a chicken festival  every summer because Delaware grows chickens as one of it's main "crops." They have  a huge frying pan that they brag is the biggest in the world, but I have my doubts.. ;D. Anyway, they fry huge numbers of chickens in it all day long for the festival. Sounds a bit like that huge hamburger. Rattlesnakes? Uh,you have have my share, but they are tasty. I'm glad I don't have to rely on them for food.
It's perfect day here and the light breeze is full of sweet scent. BUT the air is also full of pollen from the trees and I'm sneezing!
I have a reunion meeting tonight. The invitation letters have gone out to classmates that don't have e-mail. We decided to rent a juke box for music and picked out the menu for food. We'll have a get together Friday night, the main party on Saturday and a breakfast brunch on Sunday morning. Now we need to work on memory boards and displays and decoration ideas. Any thoughts? I've always liked the way you all do it out there.

I'm back. Sadly, Wilmington Friends Upper School is on fire. It's gone to a third alarm with a huge number of fire companies fighting the fire.
That is the school where my one niece (Al's sister's daughter) went, so I have a particular interest and have been there many times.  It was started in 1748 and is the oldest still operational school in Delaware.
The kids are all fine and the upper school has been sent home. Well duh. ;)  The lower school is separate on the same campus so it's not affected.  My company was asked to have an ambulance go to stand by.  Our fire company is not involved as we are expected to cover most of the rest of the county for anything else that might happen. This might make the national news.

Mom70x7

Oh, that's so sad.  :(  I have some friends that went there a number of years back.

They really yelled Bonsai, attacked and made an amazing stop. The roof trusses over the one area were so compromised they pulled all the fire fighters out and went with an exterior attack only. The old slate roof made opening up for ventilation difficult.
25 fire companies were there with 7 ladder trucks with master streams playing onto and into the fire. It's bad enough, but could have been a lot worse.
Mom 70x7, that's so interesting that you know people who went there. I'd never have thought that. I texted my niece who lives in Scottsdale AZ  right at the start so she knew. Isn't technology amazing?

Leaving in the morning to go shoot a Cowboy match in Oklahoma.. Don't know how I will do as I haven't picked up all my single action guns since I shot last year in California...( I came in 6th there)  .. and this year there is almost double the entries so the competition is going to be tougher than ever before.  But no matter~~I'll do my very best and have fun while I'm trying.  This is my most favorite and fun shoot of the year and to say we have a blast is an understatement.. I dearly love all the people and posse we get to shoot with so when the end of the weekend is done, I will have a smile on my face and more wonderful memories tucked away. And that's really what its all about.  ;)
Hope everyone has a great weekend.. and
Don't burn the place down while I'm gone..  :)  ;D ;D

Hope you have good weather. Shoot straight and have fun.

New Years Eve just won't be the same without Dick Clark. I used to get off the school bus just in time to catch most of the original Band Stand show back when it was local here. It started in Philly. He was always so nice with the kids and obviously loved what he was doing.
