Howard friends were greatly surprised and shocked last Saturday, to hear that Mrs. Dr. Harner had suddenly died at her home at Clay Center.  Her brother and sister, Stanley and Myrtle Lewis, at once went to her home, and the body was brought here Monday evening and funeral services were held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the home, Rev. Searcey of Cherryvale officiating.  A few hours before her death a son was born to them, a fine baby baby boy who is now doing nicely.
The Clay Center Daily Dispatch of the 6th contains the following:
"Anna Kay Lewis was born in Payson, Adams county, Ill., February 5, 1874.  She came with her parents to Kansas in 1881 and settled on a farm near Elk Falls, Elk county, Kan.  In 1892 the family moved into Howard, the county seat of Elk county, and she lived there until June 21, 1905, when she was married to Dr. M. W. Harner.  They set up housekeeping in Clay Center, which has been their home ever since.
"Mrs. Harner joined the Baptist church when a young woman, and transferred her membership to the First M. E. church on her removal to this city, to share her church membership with her husband.
"She was a graduate of the high school in Howard and was a member of the woman's home missionary society in this city and a teacher in the Sunday School of her church.
"About two years ago she had a hard seige of rheumatism which caused doubts of her recovery.  Since that time she has had four attacks of heart trouble, each one harder than the other, the last one resulting in her death March 5, 1910.  Her untimely passing away is deeply regretted by all.  She was aged thirty-six years and one month.

(This is typed exactly as the newspaper had it.  The word baby is used twice and the quotation marks that start with each paragraph did not have closing quotation marks.  Strange.)
