Janet Harrington

  Mary Catherine Smith was born May 13, 1842, in Washington county, Virginia, died at her home in Howard, Kansas, March 18, 1910, aged 67 years, 10 months and 5 days.
  She was married to Austin Fickle on December 1, 1859.  To this union were born seven children, six of these are now living, one having died at the age of severn months.  The family came to Kansas in october, 1872.
  At the age of 16 Sister Fickle, united with the Christian church at Holton, Virginia.  After coming to Elk county she transferred her membership to the Christian church at Moline, where she still held membership at the time of her death.
  Sister Fickle leaves a husband, six children, 4 sons and 2 daughters, two sisters and five brothers to mourn her decease.
  Funeral services conducted by Elder Gilbert Park were held at the home Sunday Maych 20, at 11:00 a.m.
