The Grenola Fire Department is planning its first annual Hot Flash Benefit Supper and Talent Show.  The festivities will start March 14, 2008 at 6:30 pm with a Chili Feed.  A talent show will follow at 7 pm.  There will be a free will offering taken at the door.  Proceeds will be used to purchase radios for members of the department to allow for faster response to fires.  The department is applying for a matching grant through the Kansas Department of Forestry for the radios.  Any additional money raised will be put towards bunker gear for firefighters.  The talent show will be limited to 15 contestants.  A sound system and a wide variety of karaoke music will be available for those wishing to sing for their talent.  To enter the talent show, contact Allen Moore at 620-358-2163.  For other questions or to get a list of karaoke music available contact Andrea Arbuckle at 620-358-2229.

Golly we have been hearing so many good things about the success of last Sat. nights Grenola Fire Departments Fundraiser. Sounds like well over two hundred people attended the chili supper and that the talent show was so good with lots of great talent sharing their abilitities. Hopefully maybe Andrea or someone who knows more specifics would like to share the good news. As I have said before this is one little town that goes all out to keep it's town going, pat yourself of the back good people of Grenola, KS. Burning season is just starting and it is amazing what all these little towns do with volunteer men and each town helping the others when needed. This was a very good opportunity to support them monetary wise.  Barbara Clubine Smiley

Andrea reported last night at the steering committee meeting that over $4700 was raised! Way to go!  We  are truly blessed to have such great volunteer fire fighters here to protect our communities and surrounding areas!
