Old Fashioned Bread Pudding

8 slices raisin bread
1 1/2 cups whole milk
1 1/2 cups heavy cream
½ Cup sugar
5 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp cinnamon

1/4 tsp nutmeg ( sprinkled on the top

Mix together (minus the nutmeg) and put in large casserole pan. 
Sprinkle nutmeg on the top.
Place pan in a larger pan of water and bake for l hour at 350 degrees, or until knife inserted comes out clean.

((( if you want to use plain bread ..homeade or store bought..
then if you want to.. add 1/2 cup of raisons )))

Sauce

2 T. Butter
3 T. All purpose flour
½ cup sugar
1 cup hot water
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 cup rum whiskey ( optional)

In a sauce pan, mix the butter and flour until blended.
Then add the hot water and sugar.  Stir until mixture bubbles.
After it cools a little, add the vanilla.
And if you desire... The rum whisky
Stir.

A lot of people like to eat bread pudding naked.. Without the sauce and others prefer the sauce.. Either way.. This is an old old recipe that is about 120 years old.
