Dale Melvin Doughty was born August 26, 1935 in Howard, Kansas, the son of Melvin C. and V. Irene (LeSeur) Doughty.  He passed away on August 21, 2019 in Holiday Island, Arkansas at the age of 83.

Dale grew up in Howard, Kansas and graduated from Howard High School.  He and Shirley Ann Thompson were united in marriage in 1955 and celebrated 64 years of marriage on June 12, 2019.  Dale had a 40-year-career with Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas.  He was retired and traveled and wintered in Weslaco, Texas for 21 years.  He and Shirley moved to Holiday Island in 2017.

Dale had a full and amazing life.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and most of all, spending time with his family. He was a former member of the Mulvane Masonic Lodge in Mulvane, Kansas.

Dale is survived by his wife, Shirley; two sons, Kirk (Dominique) Doughty of Zena, Oklahoma and Kent (Cathy) Doughty of Belle Vista, Arkansas; one daughter, Kristy (Paul) Sutherland of Peck, Kansas; six grandchildren, Misty, Jared, Evan, Jordan, Travis, and Cole; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

A memorial service was held on August 24, 2019 at the Holiday Island Baptist Church in Holiday Island, Arkansas with Pastor Steve Ward officiating.  A graveside service and burial will be held at Grace Lawn Cemetery in Howard, Kansas on Friday, September 6, 2019 at 2:00 p.m..  Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.nelsonfuneral.com.  Memorial donations may be made to the Holiday Island Baptist Church or Northwest Arkansas Circle of Life Hospice, and contributions may be sent to the Nelson Funeral Service, 150 W. Van Buren, Eureka, Springs, Arkansas which was in charge of arrangements.
