Ann Durbin, 65, of Arkansas City, Kansas, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2019 at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas.  Born May 27, 1954 in Manhattan, Kansas, she was the daughter of Dr. Keith and Rosemary (Lewis) Sherman.

Due to her father's job with the government, she lived in many states.  While living in Ames, Iowa, Ann graduated from Ames High School in 1972.  She then attended Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas for a year before transferring to Iowa State University where she graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Speech in 1975.

Ann was united in marriage to Daniel Dean Durbin on November 30, 1974 at the Moline United Methodist Church in Moline, Kansas.  The couple made their first home in State Center, Iowa.  In 1977, they moved to Winfield, Kansas, and Ann began teaching and directing theatre at Arkansas City High School.  In the early 1980s, she began a home daycare business, and soon after, started Nutrition Plus, a program for home daycare providers.  In 2011, Dan and Ann moved to rural Cowley County, east of Arkansas City.

Ann was a member of Beta Sigma Phi and was a former member of Soroptimists.  She was previously active in the Winfield Community Theatre and more currently loved attending musicals at Music Theatre of Wichita.  She enjoyed playing cards, and for decades, she was a member of a ladies bridge club as well as a couples bridge club.  Ann played host to many people in her home through the years and was known for her hospitality.  All that knew her agreed that she handled her adversities with determination and grace.
