Betty Ann Schiler drifted peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on April 13, 2019 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma with her children at her side.  All three children agree that she did it her way and purposely chose her time to slip away without drawing any extra attention to herself.  She was born on December 9, 1929 to Ruby (Breese) and George Franklin Shumaker in Caney, Kansas.

Betty Ann grew up in Caney, Kansas and just outside of town on her daddy's dairy farm.  When she was old enough to work, she got a job at a bakery in Caney that was owned by her Uncle Jack Shumaker.  Eventually, Uncle Jack would sell the bakery to a gentleman from Cherryvale, Kansas, Tony Schiler.  Tony had two brothers who would come to work in the bakery after their stints in the United States Navy, and one of the brothers would later become Betty Ann's husband, Bob.

Betty Ann and Bob were married December 20, 1947 in Derby, Kansas.  She worked as a telephone operator, a receptionist in the hospital and a doctor's office, and she had an answering service in her home for the doctors in Neodesha, Kansas.  She was an active member of Eastern Star and loved gardening, cooking, and sewing.  She proudly made both of her daughters' wedding dresses.  She always put others before herself, especially her husband, Bob.  Her favorite role in life was being a wife to Bob and a mother to their three children.

Betty Ann is survived by her children, Barbara Bryant of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Georgana (Dr. Greg) Morgan of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Fred Schiler of Independence, Kansas; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and her special nephew, John Carl (Deb) Garison of Dexter, Kansas.  She was preceded in death by her husband, of 69 years, Robert Dean "Bob" Schiler; her parents, Ruby and George Shumaker; her sister, Goldie Mae Garison; and her brother-in-law, John C. Garison, jr.

There will be a graveside service for Betty Ann and Bob at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 9, 2019 at Fairview Cemetery in Cherryvale, Kansas.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Mercer-Adams Funeral Service of Oklahoma City.
