James Patrick "Pat" Elliott Jr., age 81, of Howard Kansas, passed away May 20, 2019 at the Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka, Kansas.  He was born Mary 9, 1938 in rural Elk County, Kansas to James Patrick and Ruth (McNair) Elliott.

Pat lived in Elk County all his life except for a short period when he was very young and his parents moved to California for awhile.  He went to school in a country schoolhouse northeast of Howard and graduated from Howard High School in 1956.  Most of his family knew him as "Sonny" while growing up.

On December 30, 1961, Pat married Marcia "Janie" Scott in Moline, Kansas.  They were married 57 years, having three sons together.  Pat worked for Boeing on and off throughout the years and juggled that with farming, raising hogs, and raising cattle.

When Pat wasn't working he loved to travel.  He went on many hunting tripos to Idaho, Wyoming, and Colorado and even went on a wild hog hunt trip to Texas where he killed a Havalina one time.  He had an annual trout fishing trip he took with his brother until his health wouldn't let him go any longer.  He loved the outdoors and taught his kids and grandkids the same, teaching them how to hunt and fish.

Pat is survived by his wife, Marcia "Janie" of the home; sons, Steven Elliott of Clinton, Iowa, Chris (Cindy) Elliott of Howard, Kansas, and Jon Elliott of Howard, Kansas; his grandchildren; Larissa (Jonathan) Olson of Wichita, Kansas, Casey Elliott of Streaton, Illinois, Cody (Katrina) Elliott of Quapaw, Oklahoma, and Cody Elliott of Howard, Kansas; great-grandchildren, Sedona and Temperance; his brother Mike (Mary Katherine) Elliott of Topeka, Kansas; and his sister, Denise (Ed) Theiss of Caney, Kansas.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 24, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home in  Howard, Kansas.  Funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. on Friday at Countryside Funeral Home in Howard.  Burial will take place at Cresco Cemetery north of Howard.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Pat's name be made to the Elk County Rural Fire Department or the Elk County Ambulance Service.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.countrysidefh.com.  Services have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home, 206 E.
