Alvena Louise Spurrier, age 87, of Boise, Idaho, passed away on November 25, 2018.  She was born in Elk Falls, Kansas to Hugh and Mary Royse on June 26, 1931.

Alvena spent her early years helping on the farm in Elk County, Kansas with her family and graduated from Longton High School in Longton, Kansas in 1949.  She moved to Wichita, Kansas with her husband, Joe Spurrier, in 1953.  They enjoyed time with family including outdoor activities such as fishing, camping, and hunting.  In 1970, the family moved to Boise, Idaho where they enjoyed more fishing and hunting time with family. 

Alvena held different production positions until she was able to achieve her wish to help others.  She was hired at St. Luke's Hospital in housekeeping and retired as a Certified Nursing Assistant.  In her later years, Alvena enjoyed gardening, knitting, crocheting, and spending time with friends and family.  She was a devoted member of the Mountain View Church of the Brethren.

Alvena is survived by her son, Brett Spurrier of Boise, Idaho; her daughters, Teresa Snavely of Boise, Idaho and Janice Wilson of Wichita, Kansas; her sisters, Susan Epperd of Augusta, Kansas and Mary Lynn Howell of Wichita, Kansas; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Spurrier on December 1, 1985; her brother, Fred Royse of Winfield, Kansas; and her sister, Joyce Kelly of Noesho, Missouri.

Services were held at the Mountain View Church of the Brethren on December 4, 2018.  Burial was held at Dry Creek Cemetery in Boise, Idaho.
