Eldon Wayne Brenneman, age 78, passed away on January 5, 2018 at his home in Newton, Kansas.  He was born on August 31, 1939 in Newton, Kansas to Lawrence and Estella (Jantz) Brenneman.

Eldon attended school for a time at Howard High School in Howard, Kansas and then graduated from Newton High School.  He attended one year of college before joining the United States Marine Corps in 1961 where he served until 1967.  He married Jean Marie Kopps on November 8, 1964 in Las Vegas, Nevada.  They were married for 53 years prior to his death.

Eldon was a retired officer for the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Deputy Department and the Harvey County Jail in Newton, Kansas.  He was a member of the Newton Christian Church.

Eldon is survived by his wife, Jean Brenneman; his daughter, Karen Brenneman; and a grandson, Brenden Fisher.  He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Oleta Schmidt.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Newton Christian Church in Newton, Kansas.  Military honors will be presented at the church following the service.  A private family graveside service will be held at Restlawn Gardens of Memory.  A memorial has been established with the Building Fund of the Newton Christian Church, 210 Southport Drive, Newton, Kansas 67114.  Petersen Family Funeral Home of Newton, Kansas is in charge of arrangements.
