Mary Leigh Doane-Warden passed away November 1, 2017 at the age of 55.  She was born in Eureka, Kansas on October 28, 1962 to Melvin and Joyce (Jacobs) Doane.

Mary attended Severy Grade School in Severy, Kansas and then graduated from West Elk High School in 1982.  She continued her education at Butler County Community College earning her Associate's degree in 1993 followed by attending Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas earning her Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts in 2004.

Mary and Eldon made their home in rural Eureka, Kansas where they farmed and enjoyed the beauty of country life.  She worked at Ferguson Manufacturing.  She was a CNA and Dietary Aide at Medicalodge, Eureka Nursing Center, and Grand Villas, all in Eureka, Kansas.  She also worked at a group home for special needs individuals in El Dorado, Kansas.

Mary was an active parent while her children were member s of Greenwood County 4-H and continued as a project leader after they grew up.  She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, and knitting gifts.  She attended the local Quilt Guild when her schedule allowed.  She was always willing to help others.  Being a Grandma was her passion, and she loved spending time with her six grandchildren.

Mary is survived by her longtime companion, Eldon Austin of the home; daughters, Leigha Warden of Madison, Kansas and Lacie Shirley and husband, Jeff of Houston, Texas; six grandchildren, Zoie, Kellen, IrfaLynn, AereAna, Eddelle, and Jakob; her parents, Melvin and Joyce Doane of Winfield, Kansas; sisters, Amy Lance and husband, Chris of Winfield, Kansas and Bobbie Coldwell and husband, Richard of Fort Worth, Texas; and brothers, Calvin Doane and companion, Paula of Kiowa, Kansas and Frank Doane and wife, Tammy of Howard, Kansas.  She was preceded in death by her son, Chris Austin,

Visitation will be held Friday, November 10, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Severy United Methodist Church in Severy, Kansas.  In lieu of flowers, memorials have been suggested to the Chris Austin Memorial Fund at Home Bank and Trust in Eureka, Kansas or Severy, Kansas to assist her grandchildren with college expenses.  Memorial gifts may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.  Online condolences may be left at www.countrysidefh.com.  Services have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home, 206 E. Washington, Howard, Kansas 67349.
