Kenneth Ray "K. R." Liebau, lifelong resident of Grenola, Kansas, passed away early August 31, 2017 at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas at the age of 64.  The son of the late F. G. "Buck" Lieubau and Donna Joan "Jo" Robinson Liebau, K.R. was born January 27, 1953 in Winfield, Kansas.

He attended Grenola schools and graduated from South Elk High School in Grenola with the Class of 1971.  He was united in marriage to Nancy Durbin on January 16, 1971 in Moline, Kansas, and to this union were born two sons, Judd and Jake.

K.R. learned to work at a young age, working with his dad on the farm.  He will be remembered as a steward of the land, a rancher, a cowboy, a dozer operator, a cattle raiser, and everything that goes along with living on a ranch.  During his high school years, he enjoyed playing football and playing baseball in the Grenola summer league.  He later coached with the youth programs and helped to start the first girls softball team in Grenola.  In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf, fishing, hunting quail and elk, and spending time in the outdoors with his family.  His pride and joy were his two grandsons and two granddaughters.

K.R. supported his community in many ways, including serving on the Central U.S. D. #462 School Board for more than 25 years, serving as Elk County Commissioner for eight years, volunteering on the Grenola Fire Department, and offering to help anybody anytime, many times without even being asked to do so.  He was also very vocal to the citizens of Elk County to "shop at home".  For many years, he was a certified official at the high school level where he officiated football, basketball, and baseball.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy of the home; two sons, Judd Liebau and wife, Amy and Jake Liebau and wife, Denise; four grandchildren, Rylee MaCrae "Punkin" Liebau, Whitley Dayne "Shorty" Liebau, Kenneth Chance "Bruiser" Liebau, and Camden MaGregor "Booger" Liebau; a brother, Chuck Liebau and wife, Jackie; a sister, Vickie Shore; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and countless friends.

A celebration of K.R.'s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at the Grenola Baseball Field in Grenola, Kansas.  He requested "NO FLOWERS" with wishes for memorial contribution to be given to the All-American Beef Battallion (AABB), an organization that purchases and provides logistics for the feeding of our troops shipping out and coming home from tours of duty.  Services are under the direction of Davis Funeral Home of Cushing, Oklahoma.  Condolences may be shared with the Liebau family at www.davisfh.net.
