Elizabeth B. Parsons, age 100, of Howard, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 after a brief illness.  She was born on November 10, 1916 in Leon, Kansas, the daughter of Anthony and Magdalena (Frank) Henn.

On August 22, 1940, Elizabeth married Russell Parsons in El Dorado, Kansas.  They lived in Butler County until moving to their ranch east of Howard in 1942.  They raised their family of four children in and near Howard, Kansas where they attended St. Mary's Catholic Church in Moline, Kansas.

Elizabeth was a school teacher, starting her teaching career in a two-room school near Rosalia, Kansas.  She retired from the Howard Public Schools where she primarily taught the fifth grade.  She was actively involved in the family livestock operations with her husband and sons.  She was active in many organizations including the Altar Society at St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Delta Kappa Gamma teachers sorority, Elk County Fair Association, and others.  She enjoyed gardening and socializing with friends and family throughout her life.

Elizabeth is survived by her sons, Jim Parsons of Topeka, Kansas, John Parsons and wife, Liz of Wichita, Kansas, and Jerome Parsons and wife, Kim of Wichita, Kansas; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Russell in 1996; five siblings; her daughter, Jo Ella Hess; her son-in-law, Everett Hess; and her daughter-in-law, Mary Parsons.

Rosary will be recited on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Moline, Kansas.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held following the rosary at the church.  Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Walnut Valley Memorial Park Cemetery in El Dorado, Kansas.  Online condolences may be left at www.countrysidefh.com.  Memorials have been suggested to the St. Mary's Catholic Church Altar Society and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.  Services have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home, 206 E. Washington, Howard, Kansas 67349.
