Who Are The Troublemakers? . . .

"And it came to pass, when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said unto him, Art thou he that troubleth Israel? And he answered, I have not troubled Israel; but thou, and thy father's house, in that ye have forsaken the commandments of the LORD, and thou hast followed Baalim."
I Kings 18:17, 18

We can certainly relate to this understanding gap, or the difference in opinion in Elijah's day. Elijah had announced to King Ahab that due to the sin of the king and the disobedience of the people, God would be sending a drought upon the land. More than three years later, Elijah went to meet Ahab. At this meeting, Ahab suggested that Elijah was the source of Israel's trouble, questioning, "Art thou he that troubleth Israel?" Elijah saw it in a completely different way. He said that Israel's trouble was not caused by himself, but was due to the disobedience of Ahab and those like him.

This is very typical of what we see and hear in our world every day. To the unsaved, one of the greatest problems in society is the presence of conservative Bible believers. You can honestly hear more criticism from many liberal politicians against the conservative Christians than you will hear against the terrorists, abortionists, or those who produce and peddle pornography.

We would have to respectfully disagree. We do not think that calling for an end to abortion on demand is troubling America. Nor, do we see that clarifying our position on marriage, as being legal only between a man and a woman, is causing trouble for our country. We do not believe the posting of the Ten Commandments in public places will have a destructive effect on the United States. We do not believe that we are the troublemakers. We believe that the troublemakers are those who deny the moral absolutes and traditional family values that have been a part of the fabric of this nation. Those who are troubling our society are those who reject the absolute standard of truth in the Word of God. Our country has been troubled by those who have removed the Bible and prayer from the public schools.

This cultural war and moral disconnect have been growing in our beloved country for many years. None of us want to be troublemakers, and no one should be deliberately
antagonistic. However, it is vitally important that we stand for truth, let our voices be heard, and not be intimidated by those who call us troublemakers.

Since you think the public schools are all socialist, why do you care if they have prayer or not?
I think you'll find many private schools do have prayer and many public schools have a time for private personal prayer....for any and all who choose to participate.

Diane, I Think a lot of the People in Howard and Elk County would to.  I remember doing the Pledge Allegiancem
To the Flag, in School, we did it starting the First Grade and did it all the way thru Grade School thru the 8th Grade. We put our hand over over our Heart, Stood very Still and Faced the Flag that always hung in the Front of the Room. We did it every Morning. I don't remember if we did Prayer or not, we might of, as in Howard and Elk County, people take their Religion very serious. I know we do. Ones Religious beliefs are his own, I personally do not like to discuss Religious beliefs with anyone, If I am close when a discussion on Religion comes up, I walk away immediately. As usual I think Red is way off base, I would like tell him to keep his opinions to Himself, I would say that even Nastier to Him, but I will Honor Teressa and Kjells rules.

As we did here too.  We kids took turns reading short Bible passages every morning. Our non Christian students waited very respectfully. They knew they were in the minority and would never have caused problems over it.
I know you remember when the one person ( Madeline O'Hare) created such a stink because she was an Atheist....or so she said. Why one person was allowed to cause such national problems, I'll never understand.

Diane, my Guess is that Obuma would allow that, I feel sure he is a Muslim at Heart. Maybe Red is to, he appears to be against saying the Pledge of Alliegance in school. He seems to be against Chrisianity as we know it. As I have said many times, "To Each His Own".

Everything changes, as has our Pledge of Allegiance.  Remember when "Under God" was not a part of it?  I do.  When I started to school, we pledged allegiance with our hand at our forehead.  Somewhere along the way someone thought it more appropriate to place the hand over the heart.  So which is the more appropriate?  Why not change with the times?

Our day in the school room always started with the Pledge of Allegiance, often followed by a prayer.  Nobody thought anything about it, then.  Not even the parents of the children who never attended a church of any kind.  It was part of the culture and you couldn't avoid it.  Why do we take such offense at any little change from what we believe to be appropriate?  I cherish my right to do and be what I feel is right.  I also cherish the right of everybody else to do and be what they feel is right.  I will accept you for what you are if you will accept me for what I am.

West Elk students still say the Pledge every morning. It is led by the Student Council president and broadcast over the loudspeaker into all the classrooms. Students are taught to stop whatever they are doing, place a hand over the heart and recite along with the leader. Every room has a flag; students caught in the hallway are to stop and face the closest flag, in a room or outside the building.

I think Judy made it clear as to what this board is for, and this ain't it.

Be well , do good work,  and keep in touch, with God.
