Marie Young, 67, of Caney, Kansas, went to be with her Lord on Friday, March 20, 2015 from the Guest Home Estates in Caney, Kansas.  Marie Annette Young was born December 22, 1947 in Independence, Kansas to Raymond G. Young and Ethel M. (Farnsworth) Young, the third of five children.

Marie grew up in Elk Falls, Kansas and attended schools there as well as in Moline, Kansas, graduating from Moline High School in 1965.  In later years, she attended college in Independence, Kansas.  During her working years, she was employed at Rock-A-Chair and McDonald's, both in Coffeyville, Kansas, Cessna Aircraft in Independence, Kansas, and retired from Casey's General Store in Caney, Kansas.

Survivors blessed by her memory are her three children, Ronald Burnett of Gooding, Idaho, Yvonne Copeland of Bixby, Oklahoma, and James (Sarah) Young of Niotaze, Kansas; her sister, Janie (Wayne) Blakemore of Tyro, Kansas; three brothers, Ron (Joyce) of Derby, Kansas, Leroy "Cotton" (Jeanette) of Leon, Kansas, and Tom (Denise) Young of Savannah, Georgia; 5 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2015 at the Assembly of God Church in Caney, Kansas with Pastor Mike Morris officiating.  Cremation has taken place.  Following the memorial, inurnment will take place at Elcado Cemetery in rural Peru, Kansas.  Friends may sign the register book at the Potts Chapel Funeral Home in Caney, Kansas from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.  Online condolences may be shared at www.pottsfuneralhome.com. 

In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorial donations be made to the Assembly of God Church in Caney, Kansas or to the donor's organization of choice in memory of Marie Young.  Donations can be left with the Potts Chapel, 107 N. State, Caney, Kansas 67333.
