Marcia Moore

Mary Helen Sharpsteen, 59, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Thursday afternoon, December 8, 2011 at her home. Born October 5, 1952 in Salem, Missouri, she was the daughter of Wayne B. and Velma Bernice (Butler) Baker. She was raised and received her education in Salem, graduating from Salem High School.

Mary married Bill McPherson in September of 1970. To this union, three children were born. The couple later divorced.
She was united in marriage to Mark Sharpsteen on April 22, 2005 in Grenola, Kansas. The couple made their home in Winfield.

Mary worked at Gott/Rubbermaid and at Binney & Smith in the paint lab. She most recently worked at Mead-West Veco Calmar as a Quality Control Tech.  She attended Central Baptist Church. Mary enjoyed sewing and crocheting. She especially loved camping and fishing and spending time with her family.

Her family includes her husband, Mark Sharpsteen of the home; her children, Michelle Moore and husband, Allen of Grenola, Kansas, Shane McPherson and wife, Laura of Winfield, Kansas, and Westley McPherson and wife, Amber of Arkansas City, Kansas; her father, Wayne Baker of Salem, Missouri; her sister, Barbara Stacy and husband, Jerry of Salem, Missouri; her brothers, Larry Baker and wife, Carol of Rolla, Missouri and Gary Baker and wife, Kim of Rolla, Missouri; her grandchildren, Shelby Moore, Ashley McPherson, Cody McPherson, Alli Moore, Jeffrey McPherson, Samantha McPherson, Lauren McPherson, Courtney McPherson, and Paige McPherson; and several nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her mother, Velma Baker;  her brother, Charles Baker; her granddaughter, Lillian McPherson; and her nephew, Bryan Baker.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 12, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Central Baptist Church, 904 Wheat Road, Winfield, Kansas. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service on Sunday afternoon from 2 to 5 P.M. The family will greet visitors during this time.  A memorial has been established in Mrs. Sharpsteen's name for Cancer Treatment Centers of America. Contributions may be made through Miles Funeral Service, 4001 E. 9th Avenue, Winfield, Kansas 67156.
