What is going on in Severy Labor Day?

Here is what the paper had on the Labor Day activities in Severy.

Severy community to hold Labor Day events
Severy will hold its Annual Labor
Day Celebration from Friday, Sept. 2
through Monday, Sept. 5. A full line
up of fun, family events is scheduled
and everyone is invited to attend.
The weekend activities will begin
Friday evening with a free family
movie shown downtown at dusk.
Saturday events include a kids’ fi shing
derby at the Severy Lake from
8-10:30 a.m. and a co-ed mud volleyball
tournament in the downtown
area beginning at 10 a.m.

A dance downtown starting at 9
p.m. will fi nish out the day. Music will
be provided by “Terry Crane and the
Country Heartbeats” until 1 a.m.
On Sunday, a Gospel Singspiration
and Ice Cream Social will begin
at 6 p.m. at the Nazarene Church.
This event is sponsored by the Severy
churches. The Co-ed Softball Fun
Game will begin at 7 p.m.

Monday’s
events begin with the West Elk FFA
hosting a breakfast from 7-9 a.m. at
the Severy Senior/Community Center.
For parade information, contact Estal
Knapp at 620-736-2882. After the
parade, turtle races and a hay scramble
will be held, with a hay toss to follow
on Kansas Street. Returning this
year will be a Poker Run with sign up
beginning at 9 a.m.
The Car Show at Main and Kansas
Streets will run from 10 a.m. to
2 p.m. Registration will be from 8-10
a.m. The Talent Contest will begin
at 1 p.m. to entertain the crowd. At
2:30 p.m., the Lawn Tractor Pull will
take place. Other afternoon activities
include kids’ foot races, games,
a dunking tank and moon walk. Arts
and Crafts booths and food vendors
will be downtown all day. Night entertainment
will be provided by the
Amateur Contest winners and “Clint
Gilbert” beginning at 4 p.
