I'm with you on that one!  Not long ago I was in a funeral procession and not only did they not pull over, but on the four-lane they passed and got in the middle of it.  I truly think it's part of "all about me" thinking of most today.

When I'm at work, walking down the street delivering mail and I see a funeral procession coming down the street, I stop and stand and wait for them to pass before I continue walking. I was told I don't have to do this since I'm not drivng but I feel like a complete ass if I don't. It's very disrespectful to keep moving if you ask me!

Im glad im not the only one that thinks this... I too stop and let the people pass by in respect for their loss... I think it's also the "all about me" way of thinking...

Here is SoCal you can get a ticket for "getting in the way."  They have police officers escorting the procession and one or two to make sure you stay out of the way.  Slowing down or stopping only causes a 25 car pileup.  But, I was always taught the same, to show respect.  And, it is sad when there are those who don't show that respect.

Here in St. Joseph, Missouri, people got bad about not respecting the funeral processions.  There was an article in the paper and the police made it clear that drivers should pull to the side for the procession to pass much like when an ambulance or fire truck is coming by.  Since that time people have been more respectfull.

A few years ago, my brother and his wife and son came to attend a funeral (Margaret Shouses) They had become friends with
her daughter and husband up in Topeka.  I rode to the cemetary with them and as we start heading out there, we of course, have to pass Kirk's mini mart on the highway. As we drove by (ALL) of the delivery people (can't remember what) stood beside their trucks with their hands on their hearts and MY brother said, "Look at that!" He was just in "awe" and talks about
it today. I still tear up when I think about it. I was so thankful to live where people (even delivery men) take time to bow their heads.  "Awesome!"

Today, I want to make a difference.
Here I am Lord, use me!

We live in a culture all about me, me, me!  How often do you see people opening a door for another or picking something up when it spills to the ground, most just stand back and look at fellow human being as they struggle.  Oh and by the way when you are talking to my dear Mother or entering my home, Take your hat off!  How many stop these days and change a tire or give some gas or a ride.  People, you don't need to look to God if you use the common sense and respect he put in your hearts and mind.  I will never let those who have a need down in their time of need, be they family, friends, neighbors or strangers.
One of the first things I tought my kids;  "Say yes maam and no maam, yes sir and no sir and is there anything I can do to help maam or sir."

Good for you!  most people who I ask "can you use some help?"  will say no, but some are quite pleased that you will  help them.  I once met a lady that was in a wheelchair and wheeling herself into the heart surgeon's office !!!

Thank you and God Bless you for being a Human Being!  You always hear about good Human Beings and Bad.  Human beings are all good; evil, lazy, self absorbed beings are bad.
