Title: KIMZEY, Elaine Kay (White) - b. January 18, 1960 - d. August 31, 2019

Elaine Kay Kimzey, age 59, of Elk City, Kansas, passed away August 31, 2019 after a long-fought battle with cancer.  She was born on January 18, 1960 in Independence, Kansas, the daughter of James and Alma (Hinthorn) White.

Elaine graduated from Independence High School in 1978 and then earned her Associate's Degree from Independence Community College.  From there, she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas.  She worked at Independence Community College in the Business department for 31 years.  She was a hard worker who loved her job. and it was evident when she was awarded Employee of the Month, an award she was extremely proud of.

On December 2, 1993, Elaine married Steve Kimzey in Independence, Kansas.  They made their home in Elk City, Kansas.  Soon after, they welcomed their only son, Josh.  Elaine loved to crochet, play the piano, and read.  Most of all, she loved the time she got to spend with her family.  She will be remembered as a caring and loving wife, mother, and friend.  She will be deeply missed by all.

Those left to cherish Elaine's memory are her husband, Steve; her son, Josh; her mother-in-law, Darlene Kimzey; her sisters-in-law, Vicki (Roger) Hammack and Cheryl (Frank) Arnwine; her niece, Janet (Dale) Ritzert; and her aunt, Marilyn Comstock.  She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Alma White, and her sister, Gail Spillman.

Services were held on September 4, 2019 at the Church of the Nazarene in Elk City, Kansas.  Interment followed at the Longton Cemetery in Longton, Kansas.  Memorial contributions in Elaine's name may be made to the American Cancer Society and may be sent to Potts Chapel, 122 S.
