It's time again for the Annual Halloween Hotdog Roast on the corner of Wabash and Randolph (outside of Batson's).  This started the first year Patrick and I moved back to Howard.  It was actually Waldo Gray's (the barber) idea.  We would bring in a livestock watering tank, line it with sand and pile in the hedgeposts. Waldo really enjoyed that. He'd have a fire so hot, you couldn't come near it for hours. Then everyone would stand around the fire with their sticks and roast the hotdogs.  We would have the fire department come put the fire out when we were done.  As you can imagine, this made for a messy cleanup.  Now we cook the hotdogs on the grill which is a lot safer for the little ones and much quicker.  Come on out on Saturday, (Halloween).  We start serving at 5pm and will probably have everyone served by 6:15 or 6:30.  It's free so bring the kids before they start trick-or-treating or for a break during.  Everyone is welcome, young or old.  Hope to see you there!
