James Alan Holley, age 44, a resident of Longton, Kansas, went to be with our Lord Thursday, October 22, 2009 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas after a determined fight against Leukemia. James was born March 23, 1965 in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Glenn Holley and Jeanne Crouse.
On October 19, 1991, James was united in marriage to Janet Ferris at the University Congrgational Church in Wichita, Kansas. Over the years, he worked as a sheet metal mechanic in the aircraft industry. He served as a Vegetable and Agriculture Superintendent for the Ek County Free Fair in Longton, Kansas. James was an avid outdoorsman; he loved to fish and hunt. He also enjoyed raising lab puppies, gardening, growing flowers, and bird watching. Most of all, he loved spending time with his wife, two children, and his beloved Labs, Doc and Izzi.
James is survived by his wife, Janet, a son, Jakob, and a daughter, Jessica, all of the home; his father and stepmother, Glenn and Sandra Holley of Harrison, Arkansas; his mother, Jeanne Moncravie of Wichita, Kansas; one sister, Dena Oxley and husband, Eric of Valley Center, Kansas; and a half brother, Larry Cruse and wife, Mary of Wichita, Kansas.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at the Christian Community Church in Longton, Kansas. Visitation will be Monday, October 26, 2009 at Zimmerman Funeral Home, Howard, Kansas from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Interment will be at Elk Falls Cemetery, Elk Falls, Kansas. Contributions are suggested to either the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of America or American Cancer Society and may be left in care of the funeral home.
