Melva C. Ruddle-McNown, age 91, a resident of Moline, Kansas, passed away October 6, 2009 at the Pleasant Valley Nursing Home in Sedan, Kansas.  She was born on May 23, 1918 in Elk County, Kansas, the daughter of Leonard and Lulu (Arnold) Whaley.

On April 1, 1935, Melva was united in marriage to Fred Ruddle in Sedan, Kansas, and he preceded her in death in August of 1976.  In July of 1983, Melva married Orvil McNown in Sedan, Kansas, and he also preceded her in death in January of 1996.  Melva was a member of the United Methodist Church in Moline, Kansas.

She is survived by her daughter, Corliss and her husband, Larry Spiller of Moline, Kansas; her son, Elden Ruddle of Moline, Kansas; two step-sons, Kenneth McNown of rural Sedan, Kansas and Carl McNown of rural Moline, Kansas; and one grandson, John David Spiller of Bartlesville, Oklahoma.  She was preceded in death by her parents and both husbands.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 9, 2009 at Zimmerman Funeral Home in Howard, Kansas with Pastor Chantilly Lovelace officiating.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 8, 2009 at the funeral home.  Interment will be at the Moline Cemetery.  Contributions may be made to either the Moline United Methodist Church or Harry Hynes Hospice and may be sent to Zimmerman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1233, Howard, Kansas 67349.  Online condolences may be left at www.countrysidefh.com.

Arrangements are underthe direction of Zimmerman Funeral Home, Howard, Kansas.
